मनजीत गटावर सक्रीय झाल्यापासून गटावरील सगळेच "संगीतप्रेमी" एकदम जागरूक झाले आहेत.उदयच्या रोजच्या अप्रतिम गीतांना इतके दिवस मनातल्या मनात "दाद" देणारे आता चक्क संगीतावर भाष्य करू लागले आहेत.ही आनंदाची गोष्ट आहे.शांतारामने कवितेत म्हटल्याप्रमाणे "दिलकी खिचडी पकाये मंजीत दिलवाला" या खिचडीत "साधू वाणी डाले पानी और मिर्च मसाला" या काव्यपंक्तीप्रमाणे आज "Manjit's Manjinopathy - सुगम संगीत" सादर करतो.

"सुगम संगीत(Semi-classical Music)"

1.Indian classical music has always been open to inspiration from other forms of music, and classically trained musicians through the ages have embraced folk music forms and put them through the rigors of classical music.

2.In the process, they have simultaneously elevated the folk traditions and enriched the classical repertoire.

3."Thumri" and "Tappa" are examples of folk music forms that have been absorbed into the classical tradition. 4.Though treated with just as much finesse and creativity as classical compositions, they are classified as "semi-classical" for a few different reasons.

5.For one thing, they are not generally performed as part of a Dhrupad or Khayal performance.

6.For another, they mainly feature light ragas and are allowed to creatively stretch the rules of the raga and rhythm to some extent.

7.They also use folk music ornaments that are not generally used in serious classical music.
