पुलंच्या स्मृतिदिनी आरतीच्या आग्रहास्तव मी त्यांच्या "अपूर्वाई" या प्रवास वर्णनातील "निळाई" या लेखावरून स्फूर्ती घेऊन "इटली" मधील "काप्री आयलंड" ला दिलेल्या भेटीबद्दल लिहीले.नंतर पुलंनी ससून रक्तपेढीला दिलेल्या देणगीबद्दल दोन शब्द लिहीले.आज पुलंच्या "संगीतप्रेम" या पैलूवर लिहीतो.

संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरस्कृत पद्मभूषण श्री. "उस्ताद अहमद जान खान थिरकवा" हे तबलावादनातले भारतीय महर्षी ! ते "The Mount Everest of tabla" या नावाने ओळखले जात असत.पु.ल. त्यांचे चाहते ! किती मनोभावे "श्रवणभक्ती" चालू आहे पहा.

1.Ustad Ahmad Jan Khan "Thirkwa"  was an Indian tabla player, generally regarded as the pre-eminent soloist among 20th-century tabla players.

2.He was known for his mastery of finger techniques and aesthetic values ​​of various tabla styles, technical virtuosity, formidable stage presence and soulful musicianship. 3.While he had a command of traditional tabla repertoire from various gharanas, he was also distinguished by the way he brought together these diverse compositions, their reinterpretations of traditional methods, and his own compositions. 

4.His solo recitals were the first to inculcate in the popular mind the art of tabla solo playing as an art in itself. 

5.His style of playing influenced several generations of tabla players, notably Ustad Rashid Mustafa, nephew of the maestro, besides Pandit Nayan Ghosh, a leading tabla player of today.

6.He was very popular in India for his expertise in tabla and various other musical instruments.He is one of the pride of India.

7.The name "Thirakwa" is not actually his original name, but was a nickname he acquired from his guru's father. One day, watching him practice, his guru's father remarked that he played so well that his fingers seemed to "shimmer" on the tabla.
